Walter A. Brown (EdD, The George Washington University) is Assistant Professor of higher education and Assistant Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership. Former posts include service on the Committee on the Budget in the U.S. House of Representatives and on the finance faculty of the University of D.C. and Bowie State University. Mikyong Minsun Kim (PhD, UCLA) is Associate Professor of higher education and Director of the Virginia Campus Higher Education Administration Program. She has served as a consultant for the National Science Foundation. Former posts include faculty positions at the University of Arizona – Tucson and the University of Missouri - Columbia. Her teaching and research interests include college impact, comparative higher education, finance, equity and opportunity issues, higher education policy, institutional analysis, organizational theory, special colleges for special populations, and bridging K-12, higher education and work. Sharon A. McDade (EdD, Harvard University) is Associate Professor, Director of the Center for Educational Leadership and Transformation, and co-facilitator of the HEA degrees at the Foggy Bottom campus. Former posts included the faculty of Teachers College, Columbia University and Director of the Harvard University Institute for Educational Management. Brian Bridges (PhD, Indiana University) is Associate Director at the Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity American Council on Education. He is a former Associate Director of the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research and the Building Engagement and Attainment of Minority Students Project (BEAMS). Gary J. Confessore (EdD, Teachers College, Columbia University) is a GW Emeritus Professor. Over the course of his career, he has served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the faculty, and Dean of administration. Michael Corry (PhD, Indiana University) is Assistant Professor of educational technology and Director of the Education Technology Leadership Program. Elaine El-Khawas (PhD, University of Chicago) is a Professor of education policy and former Director of the ERIC Clearinghouse on Higher Education. Previously, she was a Professor of education at the University of California- Los Angeles and the Vice President for research at the American Council on Education. She has served as a consultant for UNESCO, OECD, The World Bank, and for many universities and associations. Areas of interest include higher education policy, comparative analysis of education policy, governmental influence on education, and quality assurance and accountability. Carolyn Graham (PhD, Texas Tech University) is an Assistant Professor of Educational Research. She teaches and conducts both quantitative and qualitative research. Her primary interests concerns identity development, work-family issues, and program evaluation. Lynn M. Gangone (EdD, Teachers College, Columbia University) is Visiting Assistant Professor. She has held senior administrative positions on campuses and in national and state higher education associations. She is a strategic planning consultant to higher education institutions and a faculty leader and unit coordinator at the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education. She has held academic and administrative positions in both the public and private sectors, including Skidmore College, Empire State College, Harvard University, Mary Baldwin College, and Friends World College. Carman Neuberger (EdD, JD, American University) is Professorial Lecturer. Former posts include Executive Director of the American College Personnel Association and President of the Tuition Exchange. She served for 20 years in senior student affairs positions at Dickinson College and American University and was Treasurer and Founding Director of the Council for the Advancement of Standard in Higher Education. James H. Williams (EdD, Harvard University) is Assistant Professor of international education and Director of GW’s International Education and International Affairs Program. Formerly affiliated with the Harvard Institute for International Development, he consults with organizations including the World Back, USAID, CARE, and UNICEF.
