High School Students
April 10, 2007 —Faculty and graduate
students from the School of Engineering and Applied Science
led 87 LCPS juniors and seniors and their teachers in nine
workshops to illustrate different engineering careers, including
building a 20-foot modular bridge, digitizing a crash test
dummy, creating an electrical circuit, testing driving skills, and
tracking computer hackers. More

February 15, 2006--Champion Chip, a life-size
fiberglass horse decorated with computer chip parts and circuits

Criminal Justice Training Academy Training Exercises December

Northern Virginiaa Criminal Justice Training Academy will be

GW Researchers Discover Unexpected Behavior of Magnetic Nanostructures
April
27, 2005— Did you know computer hard drives
use magnets to store information? Wondering how long your computer
hard drive will last? Edward Della Torre, director of GW's
Institute for Magnetics Research (IMR) and professor, and Lawrence
H. Bennett, research professor, both affiliated with George
Washington University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering
Department, report a newly-observed phenomenon involving magnetic
nanostructures, extremely small magnetic particles around one
billionth of a meter in size.

New Campus Shuttle Schedule
March 28, 2005—The expanded
shuttle service provides students, faculty, and staff improved
service through the new university partnership with the Virginia
Regional Transportation Association. The intercampus shuttle
now stops at Foggy Bottom near the corner of 21st & I Streets,
NW, instead of at the Gelman Library, and will continue to stop
at the main entrances of Building 1 & 2 at the Virginia Campus.
In addition to the intercampus loop, the service provides morning
and evening commuter routes to and from the West Falls Church Metro.

New Pharmacogenomics Program
March 28, 2005—A new program
in pharmacogenomics is now recruiting for fall 2005 enrollment.
As a joint program between GW's School of Medicine & Health
Sciences and Shenandoah University's School of Pharmacy, the program
will utilize the expertise of both schools to create a truly unique
undergraduate program—the only one of its’ kind in
the country.

GW Virginia Campus Launches Teaching
Licensure
& Master’s Program in Secondary Education
March 17, 2005—A
secondary teacher education program, QUEST, is
now being offered at the Virginia Campus. The program
provides the coursework for initial teacher licensure
leading to a Master’s
in Secondary Education (M. Ed.) It is designed
for recent college graduates and professionals
transitioning from other fields who want to become
middle and high school teachers. This flexible,
self-paced program provides licensure eligibility
for those who are interested in teaching secondary
Art, English, English as a second language, foreign
language (including ASL with proof of proficiency),
science (biology, chemistry, physics), and social
studies.

GW Departments Relocate to the Virginia
Campus
January 18, 2005— This
winter sixty positions from Payroll Services, Student
Accounts, and Supply Chain were moved from the Foggy
Bottom Campus to The Virginia Campus in Ashburn,
VA. An additional 190 positions have been identified
