EVENT: "Water Use and Abuse in Loudoun County." With rainfall in Loudoun County at its lowest level in 30 years, this next Public Policy Forum of The George Washington University Virginia Campus presents a timely look at agencies' and citizens' preparation for wise water management. • How do geology and groundwater impact water available to serve homes and businesses west of Leesburg?
  • How can we conserve water?

BACKGROUND:

The GW Loudoun Environmental Indicators Project (LEIP) seeks to provide objective data and analysis on indicators of environmental change, such as forest cover, air quality, growth of impervious surfaces, and water quality. Research results are disseminated to the public so that citizens and elected leaders may take whatever preventive and remedial measures they may choose to determine the character of their communities in the future.

Launched in the spring of 1999, the GW Virginia Campus Public Policy Forums are designed to explore pressing and controversial issues that affect the Northern Virginia region. Forum topics range from the economy, education, growth, and development to the environment, health care, transportation, and other concerns as they arise. Panel discussions feature regional leaders and other experts who offer new insights, exchange information, and spark a dialogue with the guests in the audience.
