GW Career Expert Presents
"Managing Your Career in Economic Turmoil"

 

Ashburn, VA (Oct. 30, 2009)--Maintaining your professional balance during corporate layoffs or bankruptcy is challenging in this economic environment. The George Washington University School of Business is offering tips on “Managing Your Career in Economic Turmoil” with Gilbert C. Yancey, Executive Director of the F. David Fowler Career Center, on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 at 6:30 p.m., at the GW Virginia Campus.

Yancy will lead a discussion about not just managing your career but advancing your career in the current economic climate. The discussion will be followed by a reception, with information sessions about the Accelerated MBA, Master of Science in Information Systems Technology, and Master of Science in Project Management programs. 

Prior to joining GW, Yancy was senior vice president and managing director of Lee Hecht Harrison LLC’s Washington and Baltimore area offices. LHH has won multiple top performance awards for providing career management, outplacement, leadership development, and executive coaching services to organizations and individuals.

Yancey chaired a committee for the Greater Washington Board of Trade focused on creating a Public/Private partnership with the Federal and Private sectors to ease the transition of exiting government workers.

Before joining LHH, Yancy was director of Human Resources for Bell Atlantic Corporation (Verizon). He received his B.A. in History and Government from Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA.

Yancy’s timely presentation is free and open to the public on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Research 1, Room 101, 20101 Academic Way, Ashburn, VA, 20147. The GW Virginia Science and Technology Campus is home to nearly a dozen research centers of excellence and laboratories, and offers more than 20 graduate degree and certificate programs. The 100+-acre campus is located in the Dulles business and technology corridor in the University Center on Route 7 in Ashburn.
