GW Virginia Campus Launches Teaching Licensure &
Master’s Program in Secondary Education

Ashburn, VA —A challenging teacher certification and master of education program designed for new graduates and those seeking teaching licensure, and for those seeking a new or second career, is now being offered at The George Washington University Virginia Campus. Information sessions are scheduled on Tuesday, April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon , and on Thursday, May 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the GW Virginia Campus. Reservations are requested.

The innovative self-paced Virginia Campus initiative, Quest, prepares candidates to meet licensure requirements in high need areas such as math, science (biology, chemistry, physics), foreign language including American Sign Language (ASL), and English as a Second Language (ESL). Licensure programs are also available in English, social studies, and art.

John Wilson, executive dean of the GW Virginia Campus says, "Considering Loudoun County's impressive growth over the last few years, The George Washington University Virginia Campus recognizes its need to help train more secondary school teachers, especially in these key subject areas. We are proud to expand the quality programs offered by our nationally recognized Graduate School of Education and Human Development to meet this dynamic community demand."

The GW Graduate School of Education and Human Development is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and GW’s education programs are the third highest ranked nationally accredited, private graduate school of education, according to the 2004 listing by U.S. News and World Report.

The George Washington University Virginia Campus, located in the Ashburn community of Loudoun County , is just 12 miles west of Tysons Corner and approximately eight miles east of Leesburg.
