READI Hosts All-Hazards Incident
Management Team Course
ASHBURN,VA-- The Response to Emergencies and Disasters Institute
(READI) is hosting the U.S. Fire Administration (U.S.F.A.) All-Hazards
Incident Management Team course for the National Capital Region April
19-25, 2004. This course is the first of its kind and is being delivered
at The George Washington University’s Loudoun
County Campus.
The U.S.F.A.’s National Fire Program Branch has proposed an
additional 105 courses
around the nation. The program’s goal is to train state and regional
Incident Management Teams building response capacity under the National
Incident Management System in the event of a large scale incident.
This innovative “all hazards” management
approach is recognized as the “cutting edge” for managing
high impact disasters.
Fire, Police and Emergency Medical Service agency
representatives from eleven local
jurisdictions and observers from various government agencies including
the USDA, FBI
and DOD are participating in the seven day long course hosted at
READI. Loudoun
County is represented at the course by fire Captains Mike Lamb and
Kevin Wright and
Battalion Chief Joe Bailey.
READI is proud to be a part of this momentous course and help facilitate
bringing this
needed training to our local National Capital Region responders.
READI will continue
its efforts to provide emergency responders as well as public and
private agencies with a
thorough understanding of emergency preparedness through coordination
of training and
curriculum development.
