ASHBURN, VA—The George Washington University Virginia Campus, in partnership with Gallery 222 of the Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation, hosts Touch the Earth, a multi-part celebration of spring and sustainability, with an Artist Tea Reception on Sunday, April 5, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and a special presentation at 3 p.m. on “The Greening of Landscape Design” offered by Susan Abraham, professor in GW’s Landscape Design certificate and master’s program. The events are free and open to the public at the GW Virginia Campus, Building 2, 44983 Knoll Square, Ashburn, VA 20147. The exhibits are on display from March 30 - June 15. Touch the Earth activities include the presentation, two art exhibits, and the sale of small garden plants and sapling trees. The main art exhibit, located in the First Floor Gallery of Building 2, is a selection of landscapes by seven Loudoun County artists. Artists include Mary Champion, oil; Lavonne Donohue, acrylic; Dell Keathley, watercolor; Ann Noel, oil; Katherine Riedel, oil; Libby Stevens, pastel; and Antonia Walker, oil. The second exhibit, in the Ground Floor area, features graduate student landscape designs with descriptions of landscape solutions to common garden problems, use of plants, etc. The students will be available to discuss their solutions and options with you.
